This is slightly old news now (a week or two?) but Gatoh's newest light novel series, Amagi Brilliant Park, is getting an anime adaptation by KyoAni. The 3rd volume just released right around the time of the announcement. I have no idea how long of a season it will be or how much it will cover. The first season of FMP covered 3 books, but it also contained 4 original episodes and a few that covered side stories, so I wouldn't guess it would be a 24 episode seasons with so little that's been released so far.
I'm looking forward to it, though! It's more on the lighthearted side with some drama, I think it's another one of those fake-harem like FMP kinda was, where we knew who THE couple was, but there were some others with interest to mix things up a bit and add to the drama. I've heard talk of the possibility of Sousuke making a cameo in it simply because of Moffuru (the Bonta-kun styled mascot of Amaburi), but I don't know if that was in relation to the anime or novels, and even if it happens, it would just be an aside thing, not part of any major story, I'm sure. I think it was mentioned as a joke by Gatoh, but has some chance of actually happened for the lulz.
Seiya is nothing like Sousuke, and he's also certainly not going to be the weak willed generic that a lot of harem anime go for. He's narcissistic and kind of an ass, really. Isuzu is another long haired, tall socks and hair ribbon wearing tsundere, though she's shier than Kaname, and seems to have a bit more of an air of sadness and loneliness. She's a transfer student and I don't think she has many friends, nor does she make them easily like Kaname did.
It should be fun, though! Anyone that likes Fumoffu should enjoy this, I think ^^

Certainly interested in this one, although I haven't been excessively impressed by some of Gatoh's non FMP stuff. Tower of Druaga was pretty so-so, and I actually dropped Hyouka early on, though I ended up finding it interesting after I picked it up again (someone who liked another show I was into liked it).
Interestingly enough Gatoh apparently isn't very interested in amusement parks. As where personally I've been something of a fan of roller coasters. At any rate, this actually sounds kind of like a slice of life comedy/drama with an amusement park theme, which appeals to me, though we'll have to see how the execution is.
On a related note, does anyone know if Gatoh has ever published any written stories aside from Amagi and FMP? I know he's done some anime writing work, but as for other written stories...

Well, Hyouka and Druaga weren't HIS, he just helped with them, same with Haruhi and Lucky Star and the game Infinite Undiscovery (awesome game, if you like JRPGs and have an XBox 360 - and I fell in love with it long before I noticed Gatoh's name in the credit, so it isn't just my bias toward his work XD)
Cop Craft is his other work, but it doesn't seem to have much of a following. The 3 are it, as far as I know, but I may be wrong.

What is Cop Craft? I can't remember hearing about that one.
Also I think he mentioned that crazy American submarine captain and his subordinate in the FMP novels being from another novel, but he doesn't make it clear whether its another of his works or whether he borrowed the characters from someone else.

Honestly, I don't really know... Beyond the obvious of it having to do with police, it also seems to be in a bit of a fantasy world with magic and stuff, too. By the art, it looks like it's much more serious in tone than most of his other work.

I spoiled myself a bit by taking a look at the manga. It was kind of on the surreal side of the spectrum. :heh: I'd been hoping for something more down to earth, but at this point I'm inclined to give it a chance due to the Gatoh connection.
I also saw one of the covers for Cop Craft (or at least a spin off) in the ANN thread for Amagi Brilliant Park. I thought it looked like Range Murata's artwork, and it turns out it was. (He's probably most famous in the anime fandom for doing concept work and still art for Last Exile.)

AmaBuri is slated for the fall season ^^ Which is pretty much what I expected given the timing of the announcement lol

So going to be a little bit of a wait on this one. Well at least the Summer season will have SAO season 2 and Glasslip.
I notice a lot of the discussion on this show on Animesuki seems to relate to the character designs.

So according to what I'm hearing on Animesuki, the director and series composer for Fumoffu/TSR will be working on this and Tomokazu Seki will be voicing the Bonta-kun look alike character.

Hmm, according to ANN, Moffuru's seiyuu is Ayako Kawasumi, unless Tomokazu Seki is specifically voicing the human form of Moffuru. Which would make sense, 'cause I don't think a woman's voice would work for such a gruff looking guy XD

It was supposed to air today, but thanks to volleyball, it's been delayed until Monday.
And so, Gatoh's curse continues into his new series... *sigh* That poor guy.

That was a bit disappointing but look on the bright side -you'll only have to wait a few days between the first and second episodes rather than a full week.
Assuming you know Japanese. Actually my big concern about the series is that neither Cruchyroll nor any fansub groups seem to have announced they're picking it up yet. I hope I won't be waiting too long for subs...

Supposedly Vivid and Doki said they would, but I know nothing about either group...

I went with Vivid since that's the first release I found. The first episode didn't get much past where the manga translations left off, so the jury is still out on this one for me. I enjoyed it but I'm hoping it picks things up a bit. The photos on the wall at the sweet shop would have been a perfect place for a FMP cameo. Also, isn't that blonde princess supposed to be blind? For some reason I thought she was...

I really hope that as the park gets more popular or something, we'll see Kaname, Sousuke, and child(ren) roaming the park in a crowd shot. It would be wonderful~ I'm not holding my breath, of course, but I can dream!
The second episode made me laugh right at the start with the recycling of the joke "Kamakura, it's Kamakura!!"
Since I was on Eastern time, I was watching the raws one day and the subs the next, since I was usually in bed by the time the subs came out. We'll see if that winds up holding true now that I'm home. I can mostly understand what's going on. Not all the individual lines, but I've got enough that I'm at least not lost at all when I watch it raw ^^;;
Yeah, Latifa is supposed to be blind... I don't know why they seem to have taken that out. I keep hoping they'll reveal it, but nope... Not yet at least... *sigh*
I can't believe I'm watching an anime starring Kanye West though XDDD
