Ah, so that's why you haven't been commenting much on this. Been visiting relatives or something?
So Latifa is definitely blind then? It's not just one line that could easily have been misinterpreted? (I read the English translations of the manga, I'm not that clear what the original novel said.)
The naming scheme kind of surprised me -those aren't singers I would have thought of Gatoh tending to listen to.
I've enjoyed both episodes so far, but I'm more confident in the show after the second one. Really liked the scene where the mascots are sitting in massage chairs after work talking about the violence they'd like to inflict on the kids who were abusing them.
Strangely, this series seems kind of like a cross between Fumoffu and Hyouka. The latter of which Gatoh merely adapted -someone else wrote the source material.

Yeah, I had a couple of weddings to go to, was gone from Friday-Sunday, 9 days.
So far as I know, Latifa is actually blind, not just a weird translation. I've gotta check now that I've got the manga, and I should check with the novel as well, but yeah...
Gatoh might not, he probably just thought it would be funny. Making Kanie a narcissist and naming him after Kanye West, maybe he decided to just make it a theme? Sounds like something he'd do lol
Yeah, we're officially set up now, so the rest of the season can be real content. Looking forward to it~

Ah, so that's why you weren't commenting on the episodes earlier. Were you visiting relatives or something?
So Latifah is definitely blind in the original novel then? I read a few chapters of the manga and I only remember one line suggesting she was blind, so I was wondering if it was a mistranslation.
The naming scheme seems kind of odd. Those aren't singers I would have imagined Gatoh listening to.
Anyhow episode 2 increased my confidence in the series quite a bit. I really liked the part with the mascots sitting in massage chairs after work talking about the nasty things they'd like to do to the kids who were abusing them.

Episodes 4 and 5 were really strong. Episode 6 slows down a bit again, but we're introduced to 3 new characters. Eiko Adachi, Biino Bandou, and Shiina Chuujou. It also seems that Isuzu is confronting her feelings for Seiya, which makes me curious. I desperately need the subs for this episode... Episode 5 completely solidified my love for the ship, so I need confirmation~

So far I think Episode 5 is the only one that's really knocked it out of the park for me, but the other episodes have had their moments.
I have to wonder a bit about how the latest episode went over with the animesuki member who was watching the series with their kid though. Then again, some of the jokes would probably go over a young child's head. Hopefully.

Ahahaha, oh dear. Ah. Yeah. No. I could tell right off the bat that I wouldn't be letting my kiddo watch Amaburi until he's quite a bit older, lol. I always watch the raw when he's in bed, sometimes I watch the subs when he's up and about, but he can't read, and I know what's coming visually to block his eyes XD

So according to some animesuki posts, there's quite a bit of material that's been cut in this adaptation. Supposedly Isuzu has some sort of "aquatic ancestry" which gives her an urge to bathe every eight hours for instance. (I imagine that might have been put in as an excuse for her to have a lot of bath scenes.)
Have you seen much that's been missed so far (and isn't likely to be covered later)?

Mm, I do remember the manga made mention of Isuzu needing to bathe often, and that's why she gets so tired at points and says she wants a bath. I haven't actually read the novels since no one has translated them, and I just don't have the time and energy to muddle my way through them with my very limited Japanese (which is getting rustier and rustier...)
There was also the matter of Latifa's sight, and the length of time they have to get the visitors was increased from 2 weeks in the novel/manga to 3 months in the anime. They definitely handled the scene with the dragon's cave differently, too, but I don't know 100% how it was taken care of in the novel. They had a wardrobe change before going down, though, lol. They definitely were more prepared. And Isuzu's weapon was different. The picture looks like... a tube of lube? XDDD I have no clue, but it isn't a chain, that's for sure.
