www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-10-24/full-metal-panic-novels-inspire-new-anime-adaptation/.94580Details are sketchy at this point. One poster on animesuki said that Gatoh "apparently" (the poster bolded that word for emphasis) confirmed that the new series will cover the remaining LN volumes. Until I get some more solid info, I'm not ruling out the possibility that this is just going to be an anime adaptation of Another. BTW, the same poster on animesuki indicated that the studio hasn't been revealed, but that its located in Tokyo. So apparently its not going to be Kyoani. Some fans (myself included) are hoping for Sunrise.

THIS IS NOT AN ADAPTATION FOR FMP:A BOTH MYSELF AND MISHA WATCHED THE ENTIRE PRESENTATION, AND GATOH WAS JOINED BY SATSUKI YUKINO AND YUKANA FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT THE GIRLS WILL BE REPRISING THEIR ROLES, AND THE ANIME WILL BE CONCLUDED NO PART OF THAT ANNOUNCEMENT PICTURE THAT WAS AIRED WITH THE SPECIAL HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANOTHER. THIS IS REAL. IT IS HAPPENING. ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS BECAUSE WE'VE WAITED TOO LONG FOR IT.

Okay then. Still, considering the lack of details in the ANN article, the Animesuki poster's emphasis on the word "apparently" and the listing of 4 Chan of all things as a source for details in another forum post, I hope you'll forgive my initial caution.

Details we know: 1- They will finish off the main storyline. 2- The seiyuu will reprise their roles. 3- The producer of the last 3 seasons will continue producing. 4- The unnamed studio is located in Tokyo. 5- They will hand animate the ASes rather than rely on CGI. Speculation: 1- There had been talk of KyoAni opening an offshoot company located in Tokyo. People think that FMP may be that new company's take-off title. 2- It's unclear if they will reboot or pick up where they left off. 3- No one knows when it will be ready. My personal guess is Spring 2017 at the earliest. The "before the Tokyo Olympics" thing is a joke. Satsuki Yukino and YUKANA were present and there was a special announcement played over the loudspeaker of Al congratulating them on continuing the anime. Shikidouji, Hiroshi Ueda, Kasahara Tetsurou, and Kanetake Ebikawa have all posted congratulations messages for FMP! getting its anime continuation on Twitter. Look how happy this guy is. It's finally happening

Also... Satsuki Yukino is the short one. YUKANA is the taller woman with the long hair.
Look at Satsuki. The way she's standing. That is a woman who will use her shorter height to her advantage and punch you right in the crotch if you comment on her size.
I approve.

FALL 2017, TO BE ANIMATED BY STUDIO XEBEC.
NAMED SIMPLY "FULL METAL PANIC! IV" (read as: "Full Metal Panic! Four" -specifically the English word)

Seriously cannot wait for this, I had almost given up hope for this happening but would occasionally check for news every couple of years and it finally paid off
