Hey all, I'm building a new fansite for FMP and I'm looking for suggestions for what I should include ^^ I'm using Wix since I can't write html/CSS to save my life XD I've already started with at least setting up the page hierarchy, but I haven't started making it look pretty or filling the pages with real content yet.
Currently my plan is:
Home page with some basic intro
Media page with links to more info about the Anime, Manga, Light Novels, and Radio Drama
Story page with links to synopsis of the Novels, Manga, and Anime
Character page with main links to Sousuke and Kaname, then group links for Mithril, Jindai, Amalgam, and Other with some characters getting links off there to more information (Tessa, Kurz, Leonard, and Kalinin are definite, since they have a lot of info that can't fit into a small blurb)
Wix has a forum app that I'll be using on there as well, though I'm still keeping this forum of course. Just gives a little more accessibility ^^
Also, tentatively the site is called Merida Island Base, but I'm open to suggestions for it.
Any other content you'd like to see? Note that screencaps aren't really doable because there's a limit to how much data I can upload.

Maybe some translations of interviews and supplementary info that hasn't been officially translated?

I'll be double checking some things against the Japanese wiki, but full translations of things that don't have them out there is gonna be a bit out of my depth ^^;

Is it possible to host the images on another site, and just have the urls? I think photobucket is still free.
If you want to add a bit more realism, you can have links to the weapons and technology used, or histories of the regions they visit.

I'd have to play with it some, I don't think it actually allows it, though. I think wix requires them to be hosted on their end, though that might not be true. Even so, having to set up that many links would be a huge pain I have caps from every episode for gif making (every other frame) so I could just put together a pack for download somewhere. Not sure if I will, but it's something to think about anyways. Yeah, I completely forgot to add a page for the tech, thanks for the reminder XD Definitely putting it on there. I've also been given the idea to put in a history page to write in the changes to the world, and also a timeline of events. Good stuff going here, hopefully I'll be able to get it all put together in a reasonable amount of time ^^ (If anyone has the time and will to help me with writing up summaries, especially of the episodes, that would be amazing. I really suck at writing summaries XD)

Some of FMP's world history would definitely be useful to have. Last I checked there weren't a lot of good resources for that in English.
You'll be including a link to this forum, right?

Yeah, I'll probably have a page similar to my directory that I've got on my tumblr.

Looks really nice so far, though with those pictures being so small its hard for me to make out much of the text.

That "summary" looks very in depth -it might be a good idea to put a spoiler warning on it. Also that seems to be a summary of the novels, so it might be best to put it in the "novels" sub section and put a short, general overview of the series on the main story page. (The kind you might give to someone unfamiliar with the series who might want to watch it.)
Also I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to break some sections down into multiple headings. In the case of the novels summary for instance maybe you could break it into sections by book.
I'd also suggest having separate pages about the Whispered, Mithril, and Amalgam in the "setting" section rather than mentioning them in the general world overview.
Another thing to consider is well... Another. It comes up in the media section but isn't really mentioned elsewhere on the web site.
Aside from that, there are a few errors that should perhaps be dealt with.
Kaname's profile: "Angel" and "Job" are code names, not call signs.
Mao's profile: Wasn't the AS Sousuke defeated with the old RK-92 a M6 (albeit the latest model of M6) not a M9?
Setting: Regarding the nuclear strike in the Gulf War, this pages states that "This tragic event brought Israeli and the Arab Nations together, putting an end to the war." This is quite at odds with Mardukas' description of the aftermath of the event in the fan translation of Side Arms 2: "The Arab countries' relations with Israel by then had become irreparably damaged and the fifth Middle Eastern War had begun. The fighting that began then continues to this day."
Also the line "Cold fusion was discovered, and with it the palladium reactor, leading to the invention of Arm Slaves" is problematic since Palladium Reactors are a feature of Third Generation Arm Slaves -earlier models used other powerplants such as gas turbines.
Forum: Is clicking on this section supposed to do anything right now?
That's about it for now. I may notice more things as I go. Hope I didn't come across too harshly.

Summary: It's supposed to be from start to finish, and it's basically bullet points only (last 2 novels were split over so many settings that they had to be longer than the sections for the rest of the books)
There will be individual summaries of every novel, and every manga volume, and every episode, that's what the currently-dead links at the top of the story page above summary are for.
Whispered/Mithril/Amalgam: Still a work in progress, some stuff will probably get shuffled around, I haven't gotten around to everything yet.
Angel/Job: Ah yeah, copied the layout from Mao's since hers was the first done, forgot to change, was an oversight amidst everything else
Mao: Yeah, that's an error and I missed it in my proofing, I'll fix it
Setting: I might've misread the Japanese wiki, probably missed a -nai or -masen in there somewhere, I'll double check and fix
Cold fusion: It was weird to me, too, but that was straight out of the Japanese wiki. Maybe it was just worded weirdly, or I missed the fact that it was a separate section since I was reviewing it in JDIC's mass text translator and not right on the site itself
Forum: It SHOULD be working, I'll double check, but it ought to be live

Something to keep in mind is that even if the website is directed strictly at people who are already somewhat familiar with Full Metal Panic (and therefore isn't even trying to explain the series to the odd person who just stumbles across the site) a huge portion of the English speaking FMP fandom has only seen the animated adaptations. Do you really want to put novel spoilers in the general story summary like that?
I was also looking at the character section and it seemed to me that the line between "supporting characters" and "others" was a bit blurry. Have you considered organizing the character profiles by affiliation -Mithril, Amalgam, Jindai High, etc?
